Dear Hearst Families, Welcome to the Spring 2012 semester of the Hearst Enrichment Program! We are so excited to offer such an array of classes for the wonderful students of Hearst! We are very confident that this experience will be worthwhile and rewarding and that your children will have a great time.
Registration To register your child, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page, choosing your 1st and 2nd preferences for your child. Classes will be on a first-come, first-served basis, available to those families who have paid their enrichment fee. The deadline to sign up for classes is 2/1/2012. While all children will initially be placed in one class, if there are still spaces open by 2/5 your child may choose to participate in a second class. Please place the form in the mailbox of Selena Smart, PTA Co-President, outside of the main office, or send back the filled-out form as a pdf in response to this email. Please don’t delay, as last time all classes were filled to capacity well before the start!
Arrival/Dismissal This semester, Patricia Morales will be our program coordinator and will be present and available to make sure that all clubs run smoothly! All participating students (other than chess) will be picked up by Ms. Morales, our Club Coordinator, at the regular 3:15 dismissal area. At the end of each session, the students will be escorted by Ms. Morales to the 37th Street door to await pickup. If you are picking up your child early, please go to the designated classroom. At the end of class, participating Aftercare students will be delivered to the designated Innis employee.
Late Pick-Up Fee It is critical that children be picked up on time. Our Enrichment Program teachers have other commitments and responsibilities after their classes are over, and we must respect their time. For this reason, a late fee of $1 per minute per child will be assessed for all parents who pick up their child(ren) late. If you are more than fifteen (15) minutes late picking up your child on any occasion, or if you are late more than once, your child will no longer be able to participate in the class.
Discipline As participating in the enrichment clubs is a voluntary activity, we ask that all students participate willingly in class, avoid causing disruption to others, and behave in a respectful manner to all! In the event of a problem, a child may be pulled from the enrichment club by Ms. Morales and the child’s parent or guardian will receive a phone call. In the event of a second occurrence requiring a student to be pulled from class, that student will no longer be able to participate. We hope to have a problem free program but also want to make our discipline policy clear for all!
Snack If you would like for your child to have a snack, please make sure to include one in his or her backpack the day of the club. Water fountains will be available for students, but your child may bring his or her own water bottle.

Yoga Hayley Ann Steinbarth is a 200hr RYT classically trained in the Ashtanga yoga style. Her interest in yoga began in 5th grade when she happened upon a book on Kundalini Yoga in her school library. She truly found her practice in 2009, when she managed a yoga retreat center in Punta Banco, Costa Rica. Seeing the positive impact her teaching had on her students, Hayley Ann knew she was following a fantastic, windy road leading her towards becoming a yoga teacher. After moving back to the states, she began teaching at The Catholic University of America, before beginning her travels around the world once again. She received her certification in Zollino, Italy during an intensive two month program. Hayley Ann currently teaches at Lil Omm. She also teaches preK-2nd grade at various schools, and volunteers her time teaching yoga to kids in Anacostia. When she is not teaching or practicing yoga, she is hard at play in the kitchen working as a personal chef, or hiking with her two pups. Hayley Ann loves to live her life to the fullest, treating everyday like a new adventure. Art Tanisha Lewis is the parent of Zoe (3rd grade) and Sidney Lewis (1st grade) and returns to the enrichment clubs this year to nourish our budding artists.
