General Rules and Procedures

Arrival Good Weather

  • 8:15 Duty staff reports to playground and students begin to arrive
  • 8:38 Whistle blows and students line up on soccer field
  • 8:40 Staff and students transition to class
  • 8:45 Morning announcements begin

 

Arrival Inclement Weather

  • 8:15 Duty staff reports to gym and K-5 students begin to arrive; PK students should line up outside their classrooms
  • 8:38 Whistle blows and students line up
  • 8:40 Staff and students transition to class
  • 8:45 Morning announcements begin

 

Dismissal Good Weather

  • 3:15 All students in after school programming (Innis, Rec, Enrichment) escorted to gym to meet after school staff; All other students will be escorted to the front plaza for dismissal to caregivers

 

Dismissal Inclement Weather

  • 3:15 All students in after school programming (Innis, Rec, Enrichment) escorted to gym to meet after school staff
  • 3:15 PK and K classes will wait for pickup in the hall outside their classrooms; 1st grade in the hall outside the 1st floor bathrooms, 2nd grade in the atrium opposite the security desk, 3rd grade under the staff pictures outside the main office, 4th and 5th grades in their classrooms

Moving through the Building

  • Walk on the right side of the halls and stairwells
  • Single file
  • Silent voice and feet
  • Stop at key spots (marked by the “stop” sign)
  • Silent, Straight, Safe (common language for hallway)
  • If walking alone, student must have a clearly marked tag (Nurse, Bathroom, Office, Library)

Playground Procedures

General Playground Rules

  • Ownership – Take responsibility for your behavior on the playground.
  • Fellowship – Take turns, share and allow all to play. Invite another to play when you see someone alone.
  • Leadership – Help others when they need it. Encourage all students to treat each other with full respect at all times.
  • Scholarship  - Follow the specific rules for different playground games and equipment.

Slide

  • One person at a time on the slide.
  • Next person waits at bottom and climbs only after first rider is finished.
  • Slide down only when the bottom is completely clear.
  • Go down the slide feet first on your bottom.

Swings

  • One person on a swing at a time.
  • Swingers should swing themselves, using their own feet and legs not by another student pushing.
  • Stand far away from swings to be sure you are not hit by other riders.
  • Hold on to the swings with both hands.
  • Swing directly back and forth, not side to side or diagonally.
  • Take turns!

Rock

  • Hands to yourself when on the rock.
  • Jump down from the lowest point on the rock, not from the top.
  • Allow others to jump down on their own, do not help or push others off of the rock.

Playing Tag

  • Tag should be played including all students who want to play.
  • Tag should be played using one hand to tag another student.
  • “Tagging” a student should include touching them, not pushing them down.
