HEARST LIBRARY

We are very proud of our library at Phoebe Hearst Elementary!  Headed by Elizabeth Vandivier, MLS, our library has over 11,000 books and counting.  The book zone is open after school three days a week, and even our Pre-K and Kindergarten students are able to check out books.  Mrs. Vandivier hosts many after school events for students and their families and is hoping to renew the chess club and start a book club for the 2011-2012 school year.

Don't forget to shop at the library's annual Scholastic Book Fair, which is scheduled to take place from Monday, November 28th - Monday, December 5th on school grounds. Plus, this year we will offer an online ordering opportunity so your relatives and friends can purchase books as well. All of the proceeds go to support literacy in our wonderful little school.  Stop by this page again as we approach Thanksgiving for details on where the sale will be located and the hours it will be open this school year.

In addition to the book fair, much of the funding for our library is parent and community-driven, and we would like to say a special thanks to our most recent donor, the Friends of the Cleveland Park Library, for their generous donation toward the purchase of new children's books.  Please stay tuned this year for more great happenings at the library, including our Annual Literacy Parade and Read for the Record.

Be sure to read to your child every day and drop by to see Mrs. Vandivier for suggestions on how to choose the best books for your child. Welcome to a new school year !!
