Our E-Cycle is done and, thanks to the support of Hearst families and members of the community, we collected 6.05 tons of electronic waste for recycling! Thanks also to those who donated to our cause and helped us cover the cost of the event and raise money for our green program. We'll see you next year at our 3rd annual event. In the meantime, reduce, reuse, and recycle!

Are you wondering what to do with that old computer that is gathering dust in your basement? Do you have old, obsolete, or broken electronic equipment? Would you like to donate working electronics to a neighborhood free-cycle? On April 17, 2010 from 9:00am to 12:00 noon, Hearst will be holding a neighborhood e-cycle at the school. Please also note that there will be a free-cycle section at this event so that folks may donate working and/or in-need-of-a-minor-repair electronics which other folks may then take with them. We will be collecting the following electronics for transport to Ft. Totten for recycling:
Audio/visual equipment Audio cassettes Camcorders, digital cameras CD Rom drives, CDs/DVDs Cell Phones, pagers and other hand-held devices Computers and monitors Connectors / Cords / Wire Copy machines Fax machines, printers, scanners Floppy drives and Hard drives Memory chips Network / Video / Sound cards Power supplies Tape drives TVs, VCRs and VCR tapes Video games & Software Unbroken, burned-out compact fluorescent light bulbs Batteries (not car batteries) Printer Cartridges This event is free; if you would like to volunteer to help please, send an email to selena@visalawgroup.com. For those folks interested in donating to Hearst's Green Program and PTA during the event, they will receive a beautiful, student-decorated Earth Day bag as a thank you for their donation. We will also have a bake sale during the event with many yummy things from which to choose and the PTA will be selling reusable, BPA-free water bottles! New this year, we are happy to welcome our exhibitors: the District Department of the Environment (DDOE) and Clean Currents, a local renewable energy company. Additionally, we are happy to have a support team from Councilmember Cheh's office helping us with the event!
