Hearst Elementary strives to provide up-to-date information to our Students and Families through notices, phone calls, emails, etc. In an effort to provide an always update-to-date source, Hearst has decided to fully integrate our school calendars using Google Calendars. What does this mean for Students and Families? It simply means that the school will now keep an online up-to-date calendar of all school wide upcoming events. In addition to a school wide calendar, some classroom teachers will provide 'Classroom Calendars'. Classroom Calendars will include information on homework/project due dates, field trip dates and other information. Outlined below are a few ways to access our online calendars.

Gmail Option - for those who currently have an email account ending in @gmail.com or use Google Apps with their own domain.

Step #1 -  Login to your Gmail Account

Step #2 - Select ‘Calendar’ from the top of your Gmail Account

Step #3 - Along the left column you will find a section labeled ‘Other calendars’. There will be a box that reads “Add a friend’s calendar”. In this box please enter any of the following for the calendar you would like view:

Microsoft Outlook Option (works with 2007)

Step #1 - Open MS Outlook

Step #2 - Go To ‘Tools’

Step #3 - Select ‘Account Settings’



Step #4 - Select the tab labeled ‘Internet Calendars’



Step #5 - Click the option labeled ‘New’

Step #6 - In box type or cut (ctrl-c) and paste (ctrl-v) one of the following calendar addresses (listed below) into the box and then click ‘Add’

Step #7 - You then get to the subscriptions screen. Give the calendar a name and description and click OK. For the name something easy to remember is suggested such as Hearst School Calendar or Hearst 4th Grade Calendar.



Step #8 - Click ‘Ok’ and you’re done

Repeat the steps above to add as many of the Hearst Calendars you’d like.


Option 3: iCal Subscription Option (Mac User)

Step #1 - Create a new calendar in iCal. Command click on the newly created calendar and pick 'Subscribe'


Step #2 - Paste one of the following web addresses (see Step #6 above MS Outlook Option) in to the 'Subscribe to' field


Step #3 - Hit 'Subscribe'

 
Option 4: iPhone Wireless Sync Option (works with OS 3.0 or later)

Step #1 - Go to 'Settings'

Step #2 - Go to 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars'

Step #3 - Select 'Add Account'

Step #4 - Select 'Other' at the bottom of the 'Add Account' screen


Step #5 - At the bottom of the 'Other' screen 'Add Subscribed Calendar'

Step #6 - In the box labeled 'Server' paste any of the web addresses listed below the picture and then select 'Save'. No username or password is needed.


Option 5: Visit Hearst Website (often)

Step #1 - Open your web browser

Step #2 - Go to www.hearstdc.org

Step #3 - Click on ‘Calendar’ which can be found in the left column
