Update 4/3/16

Good afternoon Owls,
It’s hard to believe that Spring Break is wrapping up and we’ll be back in school tomorrow.  I hope you and your child(ren) were able to disconnect for a bit over the break and are refreshed, recharged, and ready to take on these last three months of school with renewed focus and energy.

Enjoy these last few moments of the break,
Jen

Reminder: 2016 Early Childhood Transition Week

To help ease the transition from home or daycare to school, children in PK3 or PK4 will start SY 16-17 year with a shortened week. At most Hearst, the first day for all PK3 and PK4 students will be 8/25. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the first week, PK3 and PK4 children will not attend school. Teachers and parents will use this time to connect through family visits and/or school events.

PTA Corner

It's here! The auction is this Saturday (April 9). Please get your tickets now at http://www.hearstes.schoolauction.net/2016 and join us Saturday at 6:30 pm at Wilson High School. Tickets are $60 per person. Reserve your babysitter/parent/sibling/family friend now and join us for this fantastic event. Don't forget to invite your neighbors!

If you are attending the auction and can volunteer during the event, please email Adrienne Allen at apa1016@gmail.com. Unlike in past years, all volunteers need to be 21+, and we only have a few outside volunteers. As such, we need your help with attendee check-in, processing auction items and/or auction check-out. We cannot pull the auction off without *your* help! (Of course, if you have friends who want to volunteer, we would love to have them as well!)

In other news...It's April. Time to start thinking about how you want to be involved in the PTA for the upcoming school year. More information on executive board positions, elections and other volunteer opportunities will come out soon after the break.

Hearst Park Update
Good Afternoon Hearst Community

Thank you for your continued interest in the Hearst Park renovation project.  You have been patient, and we greatly appreciate it.

As indicated in my email below the DGS/DPR Hearst Project Team has made a recommendation for an Architect-Engineering firm (A-E) for the project.  DGS’ Procurement Office is in negotiations with the recommended A-E firm and has not issued a contract.

Community engagement can not start until the contract has been awarded and we have the A-E firm on board.

I anticipate providing my next community update within the next 3-4 weeks or when we have an AE firm on board.  If you prefer not to receive email updates please let me know and I will remove you from the Hearst global email group.

Also, feel free to share this information with your neighbors, family and friends who may be interested in the Hearst project.  Thanks again for your patience.
