Rec Basketball
Hearst Rec is looking for Second and Third Graders interested in playing basketball for Hearst Rec. For additional information, please see the attached registration form (2015-2016 WYBL Registration) or contact Ron Rice at Hearst Rec Center.
Commuter Connections
Hearst has become a Commuter Connections school. Families who sign up will be matched with other families that live near them and commute via walking, bike, or car to Hearst or nearby schools. Our hope is that every family will sign up for this matching service in order to provide every family with options for getting to and from school. Snow Day Communication
In an effort to proactively share information about snow days to our families and communities, attached is a letter (“ENGLISH SY15-16 Snow Day Letter”) to families to notify you of the reasons that DCPS closes school, what happens on a snow day or 2-hour delay, and when school will be made up at the end of the school year. The letter is also available in English and 5 other languages on the DCPS public website at http://dcps.dc.gov/node/1134193.
PTA Corner
Wednesday, Jan. 20: PTA on the Playground, 5-6 pm. Likely in the atrium this month rather than out on the cold playground, please stop by to chat with PTA executive board members and let us know what's on your mind.
Saturday, Jan. 30: First of three wine parties for the 2016 Hearst Auction. The first wine party is in Ward 3 on Jan. 30th at 7 pm. The Bernards family will host at 2950 Davenport St. NW. Please RSVP in advance directly to [email protected]. Bring a bottle of wine to drink and one to donate to the auction event!
Sunday, Jan. 31: Hearst information session, 4-6 pm at the Stuart-Doyle home. Come represent current Hearst families as we talk informally with prospective families. Please sign up to attend:

Sunday, Jan. 31: Enrichment Committee meeting, 7 pm at Tenley Whole Foods. All are welcome to join the discussion, which at this meeting will include spring enrichment programming and brainstorming ideas for next year's classes. Email [email protected] with questions.
