Weekly Update November 1, 2013

Another great week at Hearst!

2011RaceRibbons-NoLines-2.jpgThis week we donned our pinkest clothing and did our own Hearst Walk For the Cure! Leaving from the field, about 250 students and staff walked down 37th street, around Quebec and up through the park chanting, “We are the Owls!” the entire way.  It was our “little” way of making sure we recognize a very “big” cause. Then, on Thursday, we traded pink for story book character costumes and visited our friends at The Washington Home. It is great fun to share our Hearst energy with our neighbors.

New Staff Highlight

Hunter_Coleman.jpgHunter Coleman comes to Hearst with one year of teaching experience at a DCPS middle school. After his school closed, however, he was determined to work in an elementary setting. Mr. Coleman has PE in his blood, as his father is a PE Veteran! Mr. Coleman has known he wanted to be a PE teacher.. We are very excited he’s (literally) a Hearst Owl!
