Weekly Update November 8, 2013

fall_tree.pngI’m starting to plan Thanksgiving dinner. Is that possible? Wow! Time is really flying this year.

This week lots of exciting things happened at Hearst. SAIL (Scholarship for Advanced Independent Learning) began, which gives students in 3rd – 5th grades who demonstrate above grade level performance and an ability and desire to go above and beyond standards. These students will be working on extension project based learning throughout the school year, culminating in a presentation for their classmates and parents. In second grade Ms Barron shared with her students her recent experience travelling to Dubai to work with other educators. In third grade, students are applying their new understanding of area and perimeter to design their own “Dream Bedroom” where they will ensure all pieces fit properly and that the drawing is to scale.
